Free to roam. “Ride by the lake” is my happy place. Cycling is all about freedom and nature for me. Rolling around at my speed, exploring, enjoying and feeling alive. I always have a plan and most days it gets changed, I’m happy to explore, I’m happy to find new trails and roads. I’m still amazed I can find new places to ride even though I’ve lived here almost twenty years. That’s a lot of bike rides. That’s a lot of happy. “Ride by the lake” is not an actual place but a vision of a perfect place. Open grassy fields with easy rolling hills giving way to a little lake surrounded by woods. Wait a minute, it is a real place, it’s where I live. Heavy use of applied paints help give this painting a unique texture and unexpected little details as you get closer. At a distance the work is simple, bold and has a rich muted color making it a perfect choice for a grown-ups home or office if you know one.
